Forsite Studio is an integrated architecture and construction practice dedicated to modern sustainable design solutions. The firm’s practice encompasses architectural design, building construction and renovation, project management and consulting. As a design-build firm, Forsite Studio is involved in all aspects of our projects, allowing us to deliver products and design solutions that are both innovative and cost-effective.

The work of Forsite Studio reflects a clean, modern sensibility infused with handcrafted custom details and a sensitivity to local vernacular. We are particularly interested in promoting sustainable design and construction, which starts with educating our clients on the positive impact to both the environment and the health of the end user. We believe that good design, sustainability, and economy are intrinsically linked. We salvage and reuse materials and structures wherever possible, incorporating and celebrating them in our designs, resulting in buildings of character and personality.

Our varied backgrounds in architecture and sculpture inform our designs and shape our approach to each project. With completed work in the United States and abroad, we produce distinctive projects uniquely adapted to their local climate, culture, and context.

Team

james Ajit Smith, LEED AP

AJ Smith founded Forsite Studio in 2007 as a sustainably-minded design/build company. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on sculpture in 2002 and a Master of Architecture in 2006 from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to building design and construction, he also has a passion for woodworking; designing many custom furniture pieces and co-founded Wager Sustainable Millworks. He is a certified LEED Accredited Professional and is a licensed contractor with the Texas Residential Construction Commission.

AJ recently saved two mid-century bungalows from the wrecking ball by relocating and subsequently renovating them on his property in East Austin.

Daniel Loe, AIA, LEED AP

Mr. Loe oversees a talented team of architects and designers as the Sr. Architect of a busy design-build firm in Austin, TX. Experience working in NYC and MN on a wide assortment of projects in nearly every climatic zone makes him uniquely qualified for this role. Most recently, he’s been the lead designer and project manager overseeing construction of various commercial and multifamily projects in the Central Texas region.

Daniel generally looks before he leaps, but he always trusts his cape.

Eduardo Ponce

Mr. Ponce is a leader in both the design and build aspects of the firm often taking a project from schematic design through permitting and construction. As a leader in the use of computer rendering and digital fabrication, his efforts have provided designers and clients the ability to conceptualize elements in space. He’s worked on large mixed use projects in the Southwest typically overseeing the work of younger designers.

Once gifted a derelict motorcycle, Eduardo proceeded to carefully remove, catalog, repair, replace and, finally, reassemble every component of the bike....for fun.

TAYLOR Marlow LANCASTER

Taylor is an architectural designer who has spearheaded numerous projects from conceptual design through construction during her tenure with Forsite. A skilled listener with a tireless work ethic, her background in digital design and fabrication has allowed the firm to streamline the design/fabrication process. She’s passionate about the ability of sustainable design to positively impact the built environment.

Weekends she's typically found in the saddle of her Litespeed road bike, searching for the end of that long white line.

Jason Fryer, RA

With more than 15 years experience as a registered architect, Jason has worked with a variety of municipal and civic organizations including: the State of Texas, City of Austin, Austin Independent School District and University Medical Center. His communication skills allow him to excel at building consensus with multiple stakeholders.

Jason founded a krav maga studio with an ethos that self defense is a human right and training should be accessible to everyone.

Jason Mcgee

A native Texan from a long lineage of Central Texas builders, Jason is a results driven construction project manager with excellent communication skills. His discerning eye for detail, developed after years of experience, allows him to consistently deliver a quality product on an efficient timeline. He's adept at navigating the unique challenges of each project as well as the routine municipal requirements.

As an avid Cowboys fan, he's convinced Sisyphus got off easy.
